Well done! You've survived your first week at college. I know it was probably really difficult for some of you who didn't know anyone in 953, but I really appreciate how cooperative you have all been - taking part in all of the activities and speaking up when it was your turn. It seems like about half the class didn't know anyone else in 953 on the first day - so if you're feeling a little bit lonely you won't be the only one.
Trust me, within a couple of weeks you will all start to make great new friends. My best friend now is someone I met for the first time in my Year 9 form class - and that was 16 years ago now! I also just went to the engagement party of two people who were in my Year 9 form class, so you make life-long friends this year. Remember that if you see anyone sitting by themself at lunchtime or in class, it would probably make them feel good if you go sit next to them or suggest they come to where you're sitting. I'm an adult and I still feel a bit awkward when I go on courses where I don't know anyone and don't know where to sit!
I think 953 is going to be a really nice class. You cooperate really well and I think you behaved better than lots of other classes in singing and assemblies. Well done to the girls who had to help Mrs Jones with the overheads! She appreciated it. I hope the weta didn't end up in anyone's bag or shoes :)
I would like to thank our tuakana for being really positive and enthusiastic. We are very lucky to have you all! I think you make those first few days a lot less scary by being so friendly and giving good advice. And thanks for the lollies :) Good luck to you all in the prefect elections! Thanks for Renee for the fun games and 'inspirational story' about saving the crabs. Well done to Jayshree for being the only tuakana who lasted very long in a game of Splat.
Things to Remember for Week 2
- get your stationery if you haven't already
- bring your locker money on Wednesday to ensure you get one ($10 if you want your own one, or $5 to share - first in first served)
- bring your finished posters and contact details if you forgot last week
- bring your sports registration forms on Monday or Tuesday if you want to try out for teams
Warning
- I will be doing a really strict uniform check at one of the formtimes this week. Make sure you don't wear anything I would have to confiscate (rings, bracelets, necklaces, extra earrings).
- Remember to turn your phones OFF in class and keep them tucked away or you will lose them and most parents aren't too happy about having to come to school and collect them from the office for you.
Have a nice weekend! See you on Monday,
Miss Judge
