Welcome to East!

The first day of school is over. It seemed to go fairly smoothly, but very hot! I'm going to use this site to put up photos from things like sports day and camp and also to put out reminders about things like notices, permission slips etc. It's not an official school website (that is at www.wegc.school.nz) but should be a good way to communicate things that only affect 953.

My name is Miss Judge and I am 953's form teacher and I will teach them for English. I have been at Wellington East for five years already (time flies!) and I teach English and Media Studies. I am also involved with basketball and the school magazine. I think it's a fabulous school with a really positive spirit.

They will be with the same group of 26 girls for their 'core subjects' which include English, Maths, Science, Social Studies, PE and Health, Music, Keyboarding and Art. They also have three 'options classes' that they have chosen to take, where they will be mixed in with other Year 9 students.

Our form class is Room 53, which is upstairs in the South Wing. It has a view over the Basin Reserve if you look out of the right windows.
You should already have
- a map of the school
- a school homework diary
- a sheet called 'What about...?' which you filled in with your tuakana

Tomorrow you need
- felts or something to colour in with (if you can)
- up-to-date contact details for your caregivers (phone numbers, addresses)
- find out if there is a house that a relative has been in (Bledisloe, Jellicoe, Fergusson or Onslow)
If you or your parents have any queries or comments, feel free to write them in the 'comments' section.
Looks like it'll be a nice class! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better and hope you had a good first day at college and it wasn't too scary.

This afternoon the girls went in small groups for tours of the school with a tuakana (big sisters from Year 13). Start trying to learn names and faces of your classmates and tuakana! There will be name games and prizes tomorrow.
